July 03rd, 2008 The Weepies Imeem Video Challenge Ends Tonight! Down to the wire...the Hideaway Video Challenge ends at midnight tonight, July 3! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to create a video for "Hideaway." We're having a lot of fun looking through them, and we'll announce a winner in a couple of weeks. Happy July! Deb & Steve May 27th, 2008 Update Message From The Weepies The release of HIDEAWAY last month was a runaway success, marking The Weepies' first appearance on the Billboard Charts (#31). HIDEAWAY was also the 4th most downloaded album in the US its first week out. All of your support, appreciation, and word of mouth has overwhelmed us in the best possible way - you make us feel like we still might win the Democratic nomination! This month we are pleased to announce the Weepies "Hideaway" Video Challenge. In a nutshell, we're offering $10,000 for the best "Hideaway" video. We want to encourage creative filmmakers and we think there is a community of talented do-it-yourselfers out there. There are all sorts of legal rules and details that you can read about HERE.  Also, we made a fun behind-the-scenes video-blog about the making of HIDEAWAY, to introduce all the amazing musicians and engineers who helped make the new record. You can see it HERE. Finally, "All This Beauty" from HIDEAWAY appears in the new SEX AND THE CITY movie, opening everywhere THIS WEEK! May 19th, 2008 The Weepies 'Hideaway' $10,000 Video Creation Challenge  Date: May 16th – July 3rd 2006 and 2007 were breakthrough years for pop-folk band The Weepies – their music appeared in dozens of primetime TV shows and films, they played festivals from the US to Europe, toured with the Indigo Girls, wrote with Mandy Moore, and topped the folk charts around the world. So after the last two years, we figured we’d give The Weepies a rest and call on their fans to help create a video for their hit song “Hideaway.” Not only will the winning video be the official ‘Hideaway’ video, but the winning filmmaker will also win $10,000 (and much more!). Read on and see what you need to do to enter... HOW TO ENTER: 1. Download the song for FREE by clicking HERE 2. Listen to the song 3. Make a video for the song 4. Upload it to the group by July 3rd The Weepies will judge all entries. The maker of the winning video will be awarded $10,000! In order to upload your video entry you must be a user on Imeem and a member of The Weepies 'Hideaway' Video Challenge Group. Its easy! November 29th, 2007 New Baby, New Record, New Year First and foremost, we have a brand new baby boy! His name is Theo. He is awesome. We’ve posted a few pictures of him on our myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/theweepies. Second, there is a new Weepies record! It has 14 new tracks. We recorded it at home, with much help once again from Whynot Jansveld, Frank Lenz, Meghan Toohey and some other amazing musicians and friends. We can’t wait for you to hear the new music. Nettwerk Records will once again be putting the CD out into the world; release information coming very soon. We are spending the end of this year close to home, but we expect to take Theo on tour in 2008. He appears ready to rock. Finally, this holiday season we are auctioning off our trusty guitar amplifier for charity. This is the main amp we recorded much of Say I Am You with, and the one we took on the road. So if you’re looking for a good amp, (or for that one-of-a-kind holiday gift), this may be for you! We’ve chosen the LA-based organization Free Arts for Abused Children to receive 100% of the proceeds, (http://www.freearts.org). Deb & Steve October 03rd, 2007 The Weepies on "The Heartbreak Kid" Soundtrack The Weepies’ song "Painting By Chagall" is in the upcoming Farrelly Brothers/Ben Stiller comedy "The Heartbreak Kid," which opens in North America on October 5. The soundtrack – which also includes songs from the Flaming Lips, World Party, Matthew Sweet & Susannah Hoffs, and David Bowie – was released this week! July 29th, 2006 Weepies European Tour Report and Maximum Ride The Weepies have returned to the US after their first ever European Tour!
